Disney Imagineers are hard at work remodeling a suite of rooms above New Orleans Square in the Park, conceived by Walt Disney as a private apartment for his family and closest friends. The rooms, which most recently housed The Disney Gallery, will be restored to Disney's original vision of deluxe living quarters. Vintage design illustrations, created under Disney's personal direction, have been recovered and are being used as inspiration for the look, furnishings and other decor elements in the Suite. Special design touches are being incorporated to evoke memories of Disney's diverse interests and the rich heritage of Disneyland.

The 2005 Disney Legends Ceremony marked the first time that the prestigious presentation has been showcased at Disneyland. It ... signified the first time that an hourly Disney theme park "Cast Member" has been given the award (longtime Disneyland Cast Member Chuck Abbott). The honor was also bestowed upon Milt Albright, who in 1954 became the very first "Cast Member" on the Disneyland payroll. The other new inductees represent such Disneyland disciplines as attractions, entertainment, public relations, community service, custodial, administration, the Disneyland Marching Band, Imagineering, hotels, food and merchandise.

Created with interior design inspiration from Lillian Disney herself, the car welcomed its first VIP guests in 1975. During the first-ever visit to the United States by Japanese royalty, their Majesties Emperor Hirohito and Empress Nagako of Japan enjoyed a grand circle tour of Disneyland aboard the Lilly Belle during the park’s celebration of the American Bicentennial.
