built 158 days ago
Digital monsters (Digimon) that befriend humans are the subject of this three-segment animated film. In the first segment, a cute creature is hatched from a large egg that emerges from a computer and surprises its young owners by morphing into a spectacular creature. Segment two finds the owners, or the Digidestined, in a race to save the world when an evil Digimon morphs and takes over the Internet and telephone lines, eats the data pertinent to major cities, and even infiltrates the United States' nuclear weapons system. The Digidestined and their respective Digimon--who can change shape and morph into fantastic creatures capable of great speed and destruction--must determine the best way to defeat this killer virus. Part three finds the Digidestined working together again to defeat a virus that has turned a Digimon to the dark side. Ultimately, DIGIMON: THE MOVIE, which is based on the popular Animé television show, promotes teamwork and reminds children that they can make a difference in the world.

The Digimon craze hit the U.S. in August 1999 when the animated television series Digimon: Digital Monsters premiered on the For Kids Network. The Digimon show is about seven kids who are transported to another world after being grabbed by a digital tornado. In this digital world, each kid finds a small bouncing head. The heads grow into Digimon and each kid bonds with his/her own Digimon pet. Whenever the kids are in danger, each Digimon (digital monster) digivolves into a more powerful Digimon. The cartoon promotes qualities like courage, love, friendship, reliability, sincerity, hope and knowledge.

During a trip to summer camp, an earthquake envelops them all, and sends them to a realm known as the Digital World. They meet creatures called Digital Monsters, creatures (some friendly, others aren't) that are capable of evolving (or Digivolving) into more powerful forms. They immediately befriend the children, becoming their partners and helping them survive the many perils of the Digital World.

After a three year hiatus, a fifth Digimon series began airing on April 2, 2006. Like Frontier, Savers has no connection with the previous installments, and ... marks a new start for the Digimon franchise, with a drastic change in character designs and story-line, in order to reach a broader audience. The story focus on the challenges faced by the members of D.A.T.S. ("Digital Accident Tactics Squad"), an organization created to conceal the existence of the Digital World and Digimon from the rest of mankind, and solve any Digimon related incidents occurred on Earth in secret. Later the D.A.T.S. team is dragged between a massive conflict between Earth and the Digital World triggered by an ambitious human scientist determined to make use of the Digimon to his own personal gains.
