The compact block digestion systems allow for simultaneous, multiple digestions. A precise temperature control permits the conditions for the digestion to be optimized... providing reproducible results. Kjeldahl digestions can be done in 100, 250 and 400ml tubes. The block is made of aluminum with holes for digestion tubes, energy efficient, and excellent insulation to retain heat within the block. The exhaust system can be easily and safely handled. Three different controllers are available for temperature control, time/temperature control and ramping of temperature.

In the case of single-stage thermophilic digestion residence times may be in the region of 14 days, which is relatively fast. The plug-flow nature of some of these systems will mean that the full degradation of the material may not have been realised in this timescale. In this event digestate exiting the system will be darker in colour and will typically have more odour.
