Dieting: Problems
built 170 days ago
One of the biggest problems that college women face when dieting on campus is the temptation to cheat on their diets. It’s a healthy temptation and perfectly allowable when done in moderation. The problem is that women don’t really tend to do much of anything in moderation. Women shop to excess, diet to excess (in many cases), and eat chocolate to excess. The problem is that on almost any college campus in the country, chocolate is available almost everywhere. A valuable lesson when it comes to eating properly is to learn that allowing yourself a little taste of the things you enjoy will help resist the urge to binge on those things ruining the efforts and deprivation you have experienced to get to this point.

Book that centers discussion around the problem of insulin resistance and its relationship to weight and dieting. Although the book is a bit patronizing in tone and certainly has an agenda to promote (the author's approach to improving insulin resistance and general health), it still is a good resource for largely sensible information about fatness and health, size-acceptance, the importance of exercise regardless of weight, the dangers of weight cycling, insulin resistance and its role in disease, and the importance of excellent nutrition in long-term health and in improving insulin resistance. The author is a PhD who is an associate professor of exercise physiology.
