Diary of a Mad Black Woman has everything. It's a domestic drama, a romance, a comedy, and a revenge story all rolled into one. Trying to fit these disparate elements into a unified and satisfying whole might spell a recipe for disaster, but instead is a complete success. While pain and laughter, romance and revenge all gambol through this movie, the emotional focus of each scene stays singular and precise and believable.

DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN opened already in the U.S. and hit #1 at the box-office in the opening weekend while currently taking its time to open in other places. (DIARY opens Friday March 11th in Toronto). This is a strange film – one that would be more appropriately be titled INVASION OF THE MAD BLACK GRANDMOTHER. There are two hidden films in director Darren Grant’s drama/comedy – one a WHITE CHICKS type outrageous black foul comedy piece and the other a Christian drama on how a wronged woman comes to stand back up on her feet with God’s help and find true romance. Example – the poster advertises the former while the trailer the latter.

With her musical career already on the upswing, she landed a small role on CBS's "The District," and appeared in the hit film, "The Diary of a Mad Black Woman," in 2004. In addition to her burgeoning singing career, Tiffany continues to pursue acting with an eye on more film and TV work.

What this means, basically, is that Diary of a Mad Black Woman will seem liberating to some people and imprisoning to others. At one and the same time, it is both a get-out-of-jail-free card and another nail in an already airless coffin.
