1. Rio Tinto
   Judging by Rio Tinto's past record and recent failure to meaningfully improve its practices, this company is not an appropriate spokesperson for corporate responsibility and true commitment to human rights. The Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions should be more discerning in its selection of invited speakers. There are plenty of companies the Forum could have chosen to engage in a genuine discourse on promoting human rights. Unless something changes, the Forum's actions will appear to endorse Rio Tinto and will simply provide another speech Rio Tinto's public relations officials can add to their website.
2. Rio Tinto -- Rio Tinto Plc
   Rio Tinto plc (RTP) opened at 327.84. So far today, the stock has hit a low of 325.56 and a high of 333.51. RTP is now trading at 331.23, down 9.91 (-3.02%). The stock hit its 52 week high of 375.79 in October and set its 52 week low of 192.86 in January. RTP rose for most of the past year, but is losing some ground recently. Shares of Rio Tinto have been slipping today after a Citigroup analyst cut his rating on the stock to "Hold" from "Buy."

   Mining giant Rio Tinto may be UK-based, but its operations make it truly a global company. The group has a solid reputation, mining aluminium, copper, gold, diamond, iron and lead. The majority of earnings come from the base metal side of the group. Currencies are a big influence of earnings each year.

   BHP Billiton, CVRD and Rio Tinto are the three largest iron ore exporters in the world. CVRD are furthest from the Chinese markets in Brazil.    The Rio Tinto is a foul, oozing trickle of a river that muddles its way through mining country in southwestern Spain, has the pH of gastric juice, and is awash with pollution and heavy metals. The water ranges from a brilliant blood red to rusty wine that, in concert with the yellow, orange, and green rinds of color flanking the banks, make for a truly psychedelic and otherworldly scene.

   The Diamond is no doubt hyping Mr. Comden's income so that the Diamond can personally benefit from commissions on ticket sales ($175, $429 package price) to the Pratt Winter Leadership meeting. the Diamond is not being credible or honest about the income claims.
7. Rio De Janeiro -- Marvelous City
   Rio de Janeiro is among the biggest cities in South America, but the city is more widely renowned for the various cultural celebrations that are held there every year. The most popular of these is the Carnival, held two weeks before the traditional Christian fasting of Lent.
8. Carrie -- Miss Collins
   Carrie and Tommy arrive at the prom, and Carrie begins to feel accepted by Tommy’s peers. Miss Collins relates to Carrie the story of her own prom, telling her she should cherish the memory forever. Carrie and Tommy dance together; Tommy, who has begun to be attracted to Carrie, kisses her.

Today, the fiery redhead is at the Franklin Fire Department for a cover shoot for Country Weekly's Feb 22nd issue, which will be on stands on Feb. 6th -- two days before the Burn 2001 Tour opens in South Bend, Indiana.
10. Miranda Lambert
    It's arguable that Miranda Lambert's debut album, Kerosene, is the first true Nashville product produced in the wake of Gretchen Wilson, crafted with an eye on the audience that Wilson's stylized redneck raunch won. Of course, with her golden blonde hair and good looks, Lambert seems like she would be crushed by the rampaging Gretchen, and there's a certain truth that Miranda is a bit fabricated and polished. After all, she started out as an actress, appearing in the longshelved Piper Perabo teen comedy Slap Her She's French (finally released under the lamentably tame title She Will Have Way), and only got a foothold in the music industry by participating in USA's countrified American Idol knockoff, Nashville Star, where she placed in the top three. All this suggests that Lambert will be as slickly packaged as, say, a Southern Diana DeGarmo, but pop music works in mysterious ways: as it turns out, Lambert wrote all of the tunes on her debut, whereas the seemingly more genuine Wilson only wrote about half. That said, Kerosene lacks the gonzo humor that Big Rich brought to Here for the Party, and Lambert's sweet girlish voice seems too tame for some of the livelier material. But that's not to say that those tunes don't work as well as the gentler pop tunes (the ballads tend to be a little treacly and nondescript), all of which are sturdily written, delivered with conviction, and given just enough gloss for an appealing sheen.
