According to many of the original residants of this land, Mount Diablo is the point where the creative forces, in the form of an Eagle, or Condor, came together with the mountain. Grandfather Coyote created the people at Mount Diablo, along with everthing that would be needed for life.

Contrary to popular belief, the layout of the Diablo universe was well-designed in the original game, and intended sequels would have been centered around similar battles in Lut Gholein and Kurast to kill Baal and Mephisto, the brothers of Diablo. By providing the "seven devils" explanation and the identity of Tyrael the archangel early on, Blizzard ensured that sales would be the only barrier to a sequel. To preserve continuity, the sequel had Diablo surviving by possessing the hero who defeated him, so Diablo remained the antagonist of the second game.

Many visitors to Mount Diablo head straight for the summit to enjoy the famous view. Summer days are sometimes hazy, and the best viewing is often on the day after a winter storm. Then, you can look to the west, beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Farallon Islands; southeast to the James Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton at 4,213 feet elevation; south to Mount Loma Prieta in the Santa Cruz Mountains at 3,791 feet elevation, north to Mount Saint Helena in the Coast Range at 4,344 feet elevation, and still farther north to Mount Lassen in the Cascades at 10,466 feet. North and east of Mount Diablo the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers meet to form the twisting waterways of the Delta. To the east beyond Califomia's great central valley, the crest of the Sierra Nevada seems to float in space.

Like WarCraft, Diablo features demons, but unlike Warcraft, Diablo's demons are ruled by devils, come from Hell, and fight a war against actual Angels. The motivations of the demons are probably the same, but the more traditional nature of Heaven and Hell make the world of Diablo extremely different from that of Warcraft. Religion becomes a conflict (references are made to Mage Wars and Inquisitions), and humanity become pawns in a greater conflict between Angels and Demons. In the World of Warcraft, the fight for fame and glory can be tied in to a quest to save the world from the evils of the Old Gods or the Burning Legion. In the world of Sanctuary, no quest for prestige and riches can occur without facing the minions of Hell.

History: Esteban Diablo was born in early ninth-century Spain, the son of a nobleman. Curious and inventive by nature, the restless young man was fascinated with the ancient science of alchemy. Using funds borrowed from his inheritance, Diablo roamed Europe in search of documents and artifacts of ancient alchemy, as well as rare potions and herbs with which to experiment. Within a decade, he became the world's greatest living authority on alchemy, having discovered or concocted countless potions with bizarre properties. Haughty and cunning, Diablo began to put his alchemical knowledge to use for personal gain.

That is unfortunate because from the outset it is easy to see why it is compared to Diablo but the truth is there is much more to Darkstone. True, you do walk around town but in Diablo you did it without interference. With Darkstone, there are enemies around every corner. Yes, your character creation techniques are slim just like in Diablo but with Darkstone you can create and control two characters.
