Like expected, the Diablo II expansion Lord of Destruction came out at top, with the ever-selling The Sims coming in second place. In addition to LoD, the original Diablo II sold well, earning the #4 spot. The Sims is still the most impressive ... as it was released in January of 2000 and hasn't left the Top 10 list ever since.

Unlike the original Diablo, Diablo II was made specifically with online gaming in mind. Several spells (such as auras or war cries) multiply their effectiveness if they are cast within a party, and dungeons, although they still exist, were largely replaced by open spaces.

Just like the Secret Cow Level in the original Diablo II, the Secret Cow Level is here as well. You must have beaten Baal on the difficulty you want to make the portal for.

The most obvious addition in Lord of Destruction is the option to choose from two brand-new character classes, bringing the total number of playable classes in Diablo II to seven. The original classes offered rather diverse play experiences, so you might be skeptical as to whether the expansion classes, the assassin and the druid, would be sufficiently different from the others. Fortunately, they definitely are. In fact, not only are these two classes notably different both from one another and from the other characters, but they're ... quite powerful and provide a lot of different tactical options.

As you might expect there is ... an expansion pack out for Diablo II. What will it be like? "Two new character classes each with 30 unique skills/spells, the ability to play the new character classes through the original four acts of Diablo II, new monster types (including Bosses, Uniques and subordinates), interactive environments (such as Siege Towers, Town Walls and Fortified Battlements), thousands of new weapons, armor and magical items (including class-specific Quest items), new recipes for the Horadric Cube, and increased storage space in your Stash." Look for it in the first half of 2001.
