Following in the footsteps of Kylie Minogue and Natalie Imbruglia, "Neighbours" star Delta Goodrem presents her debut album. In a reality-blurring crossover between the worlds of pop and TV, her character Nina Tucker sings in the show the song 'Born To Try', which Goodrem wrote and which is the first single off the album. Mostly co-written by the singer herself, the record takes a fairly organic approach to pop, with acoustic guitars and piano - played by Goodrem - high in the mix.

On August 10, 2007 Goodrem was in Los Angeles to film the music video for "In This Life", the first single which is ... the opening theme for the anime Deltora Quest, based on the novels by fellow Australian Emily Rodda. The video premiered on August 31 on Sunrise. "In This Life" was released as the first single from her new album on September 15. It debuted at number one on the Australian Singles Chart, becoming Goodrem's eighth number one single in Australia.

But what a beginning - Born To Try, the first single from Delta's debut album, took the Australian charts by storm, going to number one just after Delta's 18th birthday. It stayed in the Top 5 for more than three months, going triple platinum for sales of more than 210,000 copies. Born To Try then went on to enter the UK charts at number three, spending 11 weeks in the Top 40, and it went to number one in New Zealand.
