Davidson College announced that Thomas Ross Sr., former judge and head of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, was appointed the next president of Davidson College. Ross, 56, a 1972 Davidson graduate who received a law degree from UNC, spent 17 years as a Superior Court judge in North Carolina. He was chosen after a seven-month search that began with 185 candidates. On Aug. 1, he will succeed Robert Vagt, who has led Davidson for the past 10 years.
