The efforts of David Toms and Humana are a prime example of how the golf world has joined together to aid the relief effort. It was announced earlier this week that donations to the U.S. Golf Hurricane Relief Fund, a collaborative effort led by the PGA TOUR and other major golf organizations, had surpassed $5 million.

In 2005, David Toms went over the $3-million mark for the fourth time in his 13 years on the PGA Tour. Toms earned his 11th career PGA Tour victory with a 6-and-5 win over Chris DiMarco in the final of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. The 6-and-5 win marked the largest margin of victory in tournament history and was his fourth Top-10 in six starts at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. Defeated Richard Green, Mark Hensby, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Ian Poulter on the way to the finals.

In June 2003, when David Toms won the Fed Ex St. Jude Golf Classic, much was made of what sportswriters consider one of the most fundamentally sound swings on the PGA tour. Toms dominated the field by reaching more greens in regulation (over 80%) than any other player, scoring the ninth-highest percentage in driving accuracy (76%) and playing all four tournament rounds in the 60s. (In the final round, Toms blew past the field with a seven-under-par 64 to finish at 20-under for the tournament.)
