David Letterman: Years

Ever wonder how David Letterman masturbates? Wonder no longer! Thanks to the miracle of “cheap plastic toys”, in this case an Optimus Prime toy that brings to mind the building-robot hybrid created by John Heard in Big. The toy malfunctions, and Letterman reverts to his 13-year-old self… literally. But let’s be honest — you know this is sort of what Michael Bay had in mind with the Transformers movie.

David Letterman sparked a minor scandal when he aired a series of video clips needling President Bush for boring a child out of his mind. The video showed Bush speaking at a campaign rally while in the background a 13-year-old boy was seen yawning uncontrollably and looking thoroughly bored.

Letterman won kudos for his unscripted, teary, heartfelt remarks when The Late Show returned after the 2001 terror attack on New York. He later held hands with a weepy Dan Rather. And beginning in 2002, Letterman has gone to the Middle East to entertain American troops every year at Christmas (Afghanistan in 2002, and Iraq in 2003 and 2004). For his 2004 trip, Letterman brought Ilana, the Late Show Grinder Girl, and Anna, the Hula Hoop Girl. At one point in his act he asked for a volunteer from the crowd, and hundreds of soldiers raised their hands. "Isn't that how you got here?", he asked.
