Tuesday night, David Letterman asked John Edwards about his beef with Bill O'Reilly. "He doesn't really care much about telling the truth," Dave remarked, conceding that O'Reilly was still an excellent communicator (if not a truthful one).

For a short while, Letterman had a drinking problem. He grew uncomfortable around other people unless he was fall-down drunk. He smoked pot for six months. Dave remembers one night in particular when he smoked a joint. He went downstairs and ended up devouring two pints of Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Then he promptly went to bed.

Ellen Page, who plays the title character in hit flick Juno, was on Letterman last night, and succeeded in cracking up old (bearded and bespectacled) Dave. Ellen described her home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is, apparently, inhabited by the klepto ghosts of dead prostitutes. Clip, above.
