David Fincher became enthralled with moviemaking as a boy growing up in Marin County, Calif. Among his neighbors at the time was one George Lucas. By the time Fincher was 18 years old, he was working for Korty Films in Mill Valley, but soon landed a job at Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), where he remained from 1981-83. Fincher left ILM to direct television commercials and music videos. He founded Propaganda Films in 1987 with fellow directors Dominic Sena, Greg Gold and Nigel Dick. His music videos include work with such artists as Madonna, Don Henley, Sting, Paula Abdul, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith and many others. He jumped at the chance to direct his first feature, Aliens 3.

David Fincher is carving out room in his schedule for Torso, a thriller based on a graphic novel written by Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko, which he will direct for Paramount Pictures. Ehren Kruger is writing the adaptation, which will be produced by Pandemonium's Bill Mechanic, Angry Films' Don Murphy, and comic artist Todd McFarlane. Torso tells the true but relatively unknown story of Treasury Department agent Eliot Ness's time after his Al Capone days, when he moved to Cleveland to be the city's public safety officer. Torsos began appearing in the river, and Ness began receiving notes taunting him to catch the killer. Ness, who had no experience in police work, put together a team of ex-officers to apprehend the serial murderer.

Fincher became widely acclaimed for some of the most innovating and creative music videos, for artists such as Madonna, Paula Abdul, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, amongst others. He ... did television commercials for Nike and Coca-cola.

Fincher followed Se7en with The Game in 1997. Michael Douglas plays Nicolas Van Orton, a power broker whose life is turned upside down after he receives a birthday present from his brother. This present turns out to be a game played "live-action" on the streets of San Francisco, except this seemingly harmless game turns deadly when Orton realizes that this all might be a ruse by the other players to steal Orton's life away from him.
At 18, Fincher asked his neighbor George Lucas if he could have a job at his special effects company Industrial Light and Magic (ILM). Lucas gave him a job and he stayed for four years. During his stint at ILM, he had the opportunity to work on Return of the Jedi (1983) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).

George Michael performing in Poland during his 25 Live Tour. As if to prove the song's sentiment, George refused to appear in the video, directed by David Fincher, and instead recruited supermodels Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz, and Cindy Crawford to lip-sync. It ... featured the destruction of symbols from George's past, including the famous guitar, jukebox, and leather jacket of the Faith era.
