David Bowie: Songs
built 646 days ago
PINUPS was Bowie's next album (after ALADDIN SANE) and was released on 19 October 1973 with advance orders of over 150,000. Reportedly, Bryan Ferry, who was recording his own album of nostalgia songs called "These Foolish Things", tried to persuade his record company to issue an injunction against Bowie releasing PINUPs first.

The breadth of his long, rewarding career is clear on this summation of Bowie's work. Chances are you know the words to each song, as these are nothing less than his biggest hits. From his addled days in the 1960s, through his rockin' early-'70s and soul-man resurgence on into the '80s, there's hardly a misstep.

Plans surfaced after the release of 'hours...' for an album titled Toy, which would feature new versions of some of Bowie's earliest pieces as well as three new songs. Sessions for the album commenced in 2000, but the album was never released, leaving a number of tracks, some as yet unheard, on the editing floor.[46]
