Data Center: Services
built 190 days ago
Data center relocations and server migrations bring clear advantages. They reduce IT costs, support compliance with government and industry regulations, and enhance disaster recovery. Yet such moves are often fraught with risk. Local users become remote users, impacting application performance, increased transaction times put significant additional strain on processing resources, and critical services can be disrupted during transitional stages of the move. The impact of such moves on service levels – and on the business – should therefore not be underestimated. Yet it often it is.

At the heart of the Brocade DCF architecture will be a new category of data center infrastructure, called the Brocade DCX(TM) Backbone. This innovative platform is designed to meet growing requirements for large-scale server virtualization, wider resource-intensive service delivery, adaptive networking, and multiple high-performance network protocols -- including Fibre Channel, FCoE, DCE, and iSCSI. Moreover, it is designed to support seamless interoperability across servers, storage, and networking protocols. Brocade plans to make the Brocade DCX available in the first half of fiscal 2008. For more information on the Brocade DCF architecture, visit http://www.brocade.com/dcf.

DIR oversees a contract with IBM providing data center services to state agencies. The contract is a result of an 18-month interagency project to build requirements, issue a Request for Offer and evaluate responses. The interagency evaluation team won an award from the National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO) for extraordinary collaboration during this procurement.

One key feature of the BCM56820 is Broadcom's service aware flow control (SAFC) technology, which enables data center Ethernet (DCE). In this converged 10 Gigabit Ethernet-based fabric, SAFC greatly improves performance in data centers by ensuring that there is no loss of data on the network. It guarantees reliable delivery of sensitive network traffic such as storage, while extending priority access to time-critical applications such as clustering and video.

Since HostRemote manages the data center network, trouble resolution can be accomplished immediately with out any intermediate steps. The service is a single vendor, integrated solution optimized for its data center function. Various up-grade paths are built into the service to allow customers to grow without constraints. The service is a scalable, cost-effective solution for small, medium or large organizations who want security, VPN, load balancing, data back-up, high speed access, real time monitoring, on-line management reporting and disaster recovery capabilities for their mission critical server applications.
