This week you will be working on your aerobics/dance project. In groups of 4 or 5, you will be creating a line dance or a segment of an aerobics routine. Choose one of the following assignments:

SELF Dance Your Way Slim Now it's your turn to dance your way to fitness with three of the show's favorite pro dancers Ashly, Kym and Maks. With this fat-blasting program you will learn four choreographed dance routines featuring some of the best moves from the show. Then shake things up with a bonus freestyle routine to test your new dance skills. Have fun and gain confidence on the dance floor while building a stronger, sexier, super-star body!

This course includes an exploration of the processes involved in creating, making, and presenting dance. Students will learn routines in modern and funk/jazz style, create a group dance or dance aerobic routine and participate in a major dance Production. Theory topics include, anatomy, stagecraft, dance technology, classical dance, Dance in Asian Cultures, and Dance in the 70's.
In addition to dance steps, the routine may eventually call for arm movements. These arm movements are added to the mix to increase the heart rate. You should be comfortable with the basic steps before adding arm movements.
Each class will include dance, light weights, routine exercises and much more. Akella Cook will instruct the classes, which are free to the public. Participants will need to bring their own exercise mat.
