Dan Brown is a man. Like all men Dan Brown was born a man-child. This event took place in New York. After a brief sojourn in the Empire State he, along with his family, moved to the nice beach community of Miami, Florida. It was here that Dan's musical journey began, starting with an aural exposure to his mother's Yoko Ono record collection. It was this inoculation along with other events (which can be found in the journal Crab Juice: Nectar of the Gods) that got the wheels of little Danny's mind a whirling. During his years Dan was able to persuade his parents, through negotiations and Sufi mystical mind tricks that he should be allowed bring the family piano into his room so that he could play it while at the same time playing drums.

Dan Brown wrote the The Da Vinci Code, a runaway bestseller and one of the most-talked-about novels of 2003. The book follows the dashing Harvard "symbologist" Robert Langdon as he investigates a murder at the Louvre Museum in Paris and delves into a confounding world of religious secrets and ancient mysteries; the title alludes to hidden messages allegedly concealed in the works of Leonardo da Vinci. Brown grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1982. After graduating from Amherst College, Brown tried his hand at songwriting before becoming an English teacher at Phillips Exeter. In 1996 he turned to writing fiction full-time, and in 1998 his first novel, Digital Fortress was published. The book became a bestseller and was followed by Angels and Demons (2000), Deception Point (2001) and The Da Vinci Code.

With the publication of Digital Fortress in 1998, Dan Brown became a full time writer. Success... was still far away. His first four novels, including Angels & Demons, sold little over 10,000 copies, despite the heavy promotion set up by his wife. Dan Brown went on talk shows, gave hundreds of interviews, and became extremely active in the media. While subsequent books did better, it wasn't until 2003 that Dan Brown struck gold. The Da Vinci Code hit the New York Times Best Seller list during the first week of its release and it went on to sell over 60 million copies worldwide.
