After much speculation, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. announced on May 10, 2007, that he will leave Dale Earnhardt Inc., the company founded by his father, to drive for another team in 2008. It was announced that his primary sponsor, Budweiser, will not follow him to his next team.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is undergoing culture shock. At least, that's how he sees the learning experience he and his Dale Earnhardt Inc. team are undergoing with NASCAR's new car of tomorrow. "It reminds me of my rookie year in 2000, when we came from the Busch Series and all of a sudden we had to learn how to make a much different car do the things we liked or were used to before," Earnhardt said.
