Daisy Duck is one of Walt Disney's cartoon and comic book characters. She was created as a female counterpart and girlfriend to Donald Duck, and first appeared in the cartoon "Don Donald" in 1936. However, it wasn't until the cartoon "Mr. Duck Steps Out" in 1940 that she received her name and own speaking voice (she was previously played by the same person who did Donald). Daisy has Donald's temper but has far greater control of it, and tends to be more sophisticated than her boyfriend. Daisy replaced an earlier, short-lived character named Donna Duck.

Daisy Duck is a notoriously shallow and stereotyped female character who has developed little since her creation. From her impractical wardrobe to her hysteric outbursts, she is hardly a poster duck for the women’s lib movement. Comic book historian Daniels refers to her as "Donald’s garden party girlfriend" and dismisses her as "no more than an infrequent, annoying interruption" (55). Other critics have blasted her as "the embodiment of all the female vices," calling her "vain, capricious and devoid of humor or gratitude" (O’Brien et al 44) An examination of the character’s history will perhaps shed some light on her dismal reputation.

Daisy Duck is the duchess of Disney Castle and the girlfriend of Donald, King Mickey's court magician. Most of what Donald does is for King Mickey and Daisy. This is showed in Kingdom Hearts when in a cup seed Donald says "For Daisy!". Daisy is briefly seen in Kingdom Hearts, but gets a bigger role in Kingdom Hearts II.

What started with a crush, then flirting typical of her, became much more for Daisy Duck. Daisy and Donald began a courtship, one that Mickey mysteriously approved of. After almost a year of dating, in 1967 the two decided to get married. The wedding was private, but largely talked about. Held at the base of Space Mountain, it was attended by the friends and families of both spouses, and many prominent members of the political ranks in Disneyland, including Mickey Mouse himself. They were married by the honorable "judge" Goofy, who thanks to his recent connections to the Mafia, was able to gain a fake license identifying him as an honorable judge.
