Rumour mill suggests that Woolmer might have committed suicide, reported Pak news daily Jang’s correspondents in Kingston adding a twist to the causes of Woolmer's shocking death. However, they had no proof to substantiate the claims.

Reporters Without Borders is appalled by the murder of Zubair Ahmed Mujahid, a correspondent of the national daily Jang, on 23 November in Mirpur Khas, in the southern province of Sindh. His elder brother told the press freedom organisation he was "killed because of his articles criticising the situation of the poor" in the area.

Four unidentified men attempted to set ablaze the office of daily Jang, Hyderabad on July 15. They threw a number of plastic bags containing petrol inside the office after they failed to make their way into it as its iron door was locked.

As reported in daily Jang, ex Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto decided to field Shah Mehmood Qureshi from Multan NA 148 against Javed Hashmi. The decision was taken in a parliamentary board meeting in London. They have faced each other three times. Shah Mehmood won in 1993 and 2002 while Hashmi won only once in 1997.
