Da Vinci Code: Mary Magdalene
built 278 days ago
The Da Vinci Code is a book written by humor columnist Dave Berry. The book claims to be an accurate biography of Jesus Christ and details his alleged sultry affairs with such women as Mary Magdalene and Hillary Clinton. It features a forty-page long interview with drug dealer Ian McKellen, who claims Jesus regularly buys crack from him, a charge Jesus vehemently denied in a recent Diane Sawyer interview when he repeatedly chanted "CRACK IS WHACK!!!." The book recieved its title due to its claim that Jesus and Leonardo Da Vinci have systematically murdered, over the past five hundred years, anyone who makes the claim that Jesus had an affair with the Pope. Da Vinci has alledgedly hidden clues proving this allegation in his most famous paintings.

Jesper Kjolsrud, CG supervisor at Double Negative, discussed the role of Maya as a pre-visualization tool: "In The Da Vinci Code, the reveal of Mary's sarcophagus is a good example where Autodesk Maya became the backbone of a shot. The shot was first pre-visualized in Maya. Camera movement was then programmed onto a motion control green screen plate of the sarcophagus, using Maya. Maya was ... used to pre-visualize the Newton's tomb sequence."

The Da Vinci Code alleges that she was in line to head the newly established church of Jesus, and that she and Jesus were lovers and had a child. Mary is considered to be the Holy Grail because she carried in her womb the bloodline of Christ.

The Da Vinci Code has resurrected an old debate about whether Mary Magdalene was an intimate disciple of Christ's, even his wife. Biblical scholar and seminary professor Witherington writes, "She was an important disciple and witness for Jesus, but there is no historical evidence for a more intimate relationship."

According to The Da Vinci Code, Peter was a prominent follower of Jesus who became outraged with jealousy when Mary Magdalene was chosen to lead the newly established church. His original opposition to Mary Magdalene triggered centuries anti-female policies by the Roman Catholic Church.

According to The Da Vinci Code, Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus, and their offspring included the Merovingian kings of France. Hence Mary Magdalene, and not the last-supper cup, was the Holy Grail, in that her womb served as the chalice from which the royal blood of Jesus flowed forth in a royal posterity. A mysterious society called the Priory of Sion (Leonardo was supposedly served as one-time Grand Master [p. 204]) was dedicated to protecting “the true history of Jesus,” which the Roman Catholic Church throughout its long history had energetically tried to suppress. This ancient antagonism between Rome and the Priory of Sion, The Da Vinci Code asserts, is ... symbolically represented in The Last Supper:
