1. Altoids -- Altoids Curious
   Altoids are a popular brand of breath mints that have been in existence since the turn of the 19th century. Altoids are produced in Great Britain by Callard & Bowser-Suchard at Bridgend, Wales. The history of Altoids actually dates back to the reign of King George III. The brand was created by a London-based Smith & Company in the 1780s but eventually became part of the Callard & Bowser company in the 1800s. They are still advertised as “The Original Celebrated Curiously Strong Peppermints.”
2. George Eads
   CSI actor George Eads last week was offering chip dip recipes on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show. The star of CSI, who’s stirred rumors of his sexuality by appearing at most events with his live-in male co-star, Eads delighted in sharing microwave cooking tips with fellow Texas-born Ellen DeGeneres.
3. George Lucas
   George Lucas is the creator of Star Wars. He wrote the scripts with all of Yoda's lines, and he had the final say on what Yoda looked like and how Yoda acted. The following are all quotes from George Lucas that relate to Yoda.
4. George Eliot -- Life
   George Eliot is among the foremost writers of her time. In spite of her gender, her looks, and her eccentric beliefs, she earned a prominent place within the Victorian literary canon. Middlemarch falls near the end of her life and career, and it clinched her financial and popular success.
5. George Arliss -- Stars
   One of George Arliss' "smaller" vehicles, The King's Vacation casts the eminent British stage star (always billed as "Mr. George Arliss") as an abdicating monarch. Seeking the simple life, he comes to America in search of the wife (Marjorie Gateson) he'd been forced to divorce years earlier in order keep his crown.

   For the first and only time in Academy history, multiple nominations were permitted for individual categories (notice that George Arliss defeated himself in the Best Actor category). [With a change of rules, this would be the last year in which performers could be nominated for roles in more than one film.]
7. George Harrison -- John Lennon
   ) George Harrison devised a luxuriant rock devotional designed to transform his fans' stereo equipment into a temple. The record was lavishly packaged with color representations of the Hindu scriptures, decorated with Sanskrit symbols, and -- like George's subsequent forays -- dedicated "All Glories to Sri Krishna." The lyrics repeatedly hammered home the message that the best way to insure a better deal for yourself in the next life is to keep your mind focused on God in this one, for "the Lord loves the one that loves the Lord." George had evidently concluded that he had been placed in this vale of tears for a specific reason, that being to reveal the Inner Light to his millions of fans. As he sang on the album's title track, he had "a lot of work to do" getting his "message through," before the Lord Sri Krishna was likely to elevate George from "the material world" to "the spiritual sky." Just about the only secular note on the record was struck by "Sue Me Sue You Blues," a commentary on the Beatles' legal squabbles, complete with the sort of vicious slide guitar work George had provided for John's "How Do You Sleep?"
8. Frederic Chopin -- George Sand
   Chopin's first acquaintance with the musical world beyond Warsaw occurred in 1828, when Johann Nepomuk Hummel, a Viennese pianist-composer, visited that city. Italian opera had been the exclusive local musical fare, and Hummel's visit made Chopin aware of happenings in the west. After visiting Berlin, where he was exposed to the music of George Frederick Handel and Felix Mendelssohn, Chopin heard Nicolò Paganini in Warsaw on his return and recognized that he must leave the city for exposure to other musicians. The government rejected his father's request for financial aid to send the boy abroad, so on his own Chopin went to Vienna to try to arrange the publication of several of his works. After a successful debut at the Kärntnerthor Theater on Aug. 11, 1829, he returned home only to prepare for a concert tour, this time through Germany and Italy. His two concertos (the F Minor is the earlier), which he performed in a public concert in Warsaw in 1830, several fantasies incorporating national themes, and the first set of études stem from this period.
9. Little Feat -- Lowell George
   Like most Seventies groups... Little Feat were well-documented with demos, live broadcast tapes and studio outtakes. Since the band's following has, if anything, grown since George's death, it's only logical that a from-the-archives album would appear. Hoy-Hoy!, compiled by Barrère, Payne and Little Feat engineer George Massenburg, isn't a best-of or a reunion, though it does include a new number each by Payne and Barrère. It's mostly a fond, trivia-laden memorial that adds more evidence to George's contradictory madman-perfectionist myth.
10. George Soros -- United States
    George Soros (born August 12, 1930) is a Hungarian-born American businessman. He is famous as a currency speculator and a philanthropist. Currently, he is the chairman of Soros Fund Management and the Open Society Institute and is ... director of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is known around the world for the role he played in Georgia's Rose Revolution. In the United States he is also known for donating large sums of money.
