Crystalis: Emperor Draygon
built 264 days ago
Crystalis takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where the aftermath of a global thermonuclear war has reverted civilization to a primitive, medieval state while populating much of the scorched Earth with fierce mutant creatures. What little remains of humanity lives in small, isolated enclaves, while a man known as Emperor Draygon (called Dragonia in GBC Version) who controls the world's last remaining military power is attempting to conquer what's left of the planet. To this end, Draygon is attempting to enter the Tower, an ancient weapon of mass destruction created to "oppress evil", but which would actually destroy all mutant and human life if activated.

It is noteworthy that the plot of Crystalis brings focus to the tyranical Dragonian empire, which, itself, pales in importance when Azteca's split engenders Draygon. A loosely similar plot device is used in Final Fantasy 7 when Shinra Corporation receives initial focus as the chief villain, which is then brought to Sephiroth. Although not capitalized in Crystalis, the internal struggle of Azteca could ... be paralleled to Cloud and Sephiroth's grappling with the Jenova cells present in their bodies at birth.

Though not the final adversary in the game, Emperor Draygon is the ultimate antagonist and the root of all of evil in Crystalis. After defeating him in his human form, the hero will encounter him again and reveal his true, dragon-like form. After defeating Draygon a second time, the hero will gain access to the Tower for a final showdown.
