Croatia is in the midst of pursuing a policy of greater Euro-Atlantic integration. In October 2001, Croatia and the European Union (EU) signed a Stabilization and Association Agreement. In February 2003 Croatia formally presented its EU membership application, and in April 2004 the European Commission agreed to open EU accession negotiations with Croatia. The opening of talks was delayed in March 2005 when the EU decided that Croatia was not fully cooperating with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), but talks finally got underway in October 2005, after the ICTY’s Chief Prosecutor, Carla del Ponte confirmed that Croatia was fully cooperating.

As said before, Croatia has a long naturism tradition that goes way back in the early 20th century. For decades Croatia has been one of the favorite naturist destinations of western Europeans. Today there are more than 30 official naturist campsites, tourist villages, hotels, apartments, beaches and numerous more unofficial naturist bathing places.

Since a second place at the inaugural European Representative Festival, Croatia has appeared in several tournaments in Austria and Zagreb in subsequent years. Cricket in Croatia continues to grow with support from the ECC, MCC and members of the diaspora community helping the locals to play the game. The island of VIS now has the William Hoste Cricket Club (after the Englishman who introduced it almost 200 years ago). Cricket in Zagreb has continued to grow with a home ground in place since 2002.
