Cristina Saralegui Enterprises has made a deal with Whoopi Goldberg's production company to develop a film about the life of Cuban salsa superstar Celia Cruz. "Our company is doing the research on that now, and we'll be pitching to the studios next year," said executive producer Marcos Avila, who is Saralegui's business partner and husband.

Spanish-language TV talk-show queen Cristina Saralegui grew up in an ultramodern home in Cuba, wishing she really lived in the more traditional hacienda down the street. She calls that conflict schizophrenic. But really, even at a young age, she had a well-defined taste for the more the comfortable and rustic look that blends style with culture.
