LYCOS RETRIEVER
Cristie Kerr: Greens
built 624 days ago
For most of the year, Kerr said her putting had felt miserable. At last month's Korean Open, Kerr stopped by the pro shop and began rifling through a bin of putters until she found one that fit her eyes and her hands. The store's practice green did not have cups, but it had small targets. Kerr made a few putts.

With a swing she spent the weekend trying to fix, Kerr played the final 45 holes with only two bogeys. She three-putted only once all week on the treacherous Donald Ross greens by using a putter she purchased at a pro shop in South Korea.

Kerr has earned $7 million since joining the tour in 1997. After playing poorly on the greens all season, she said a "really bad putting day" at a tournament in Korea in May convinced her to try a Ping Craz-E.

"It's been a dream of mine since I was a little girl practicing six-foot putts on really, really long greens," a smiling Kerr said. "The U.S. Open is always the one I wanted to win the most."
