Cristie Kerr: Birdies
built 624 days ago
Starting on the back nine, Kerr opened with three birdies, sinking a 25-foot putt on No. 11. She slotted in another 25-footer on No. 17, bogeyed the next hole after driving into trees and then rolled in three more birdies after the turn.
Kerr, 30, said she looks forward to teaming up with "a person who has so greatly influenced my golf game." McLean knows Kerr can't carry the entire load when it comes to bagging birdies.
Kerr won last years championship following her career-low last year and hopes to be able to measure up at this year’s event. Last year Sorest took a two shot lead through 10 holes, but Kerr made back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12 to tie for the lead and used birdies on 15 and 17 to ultimately earn the title.

The LPGA and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation awarded Kerr the 2006 LPGA Komen Award[9] due to her dedication to find a cure for breast cancer through the foundation that she founded called Birdies for Breast Cancer. Through her foundation, Kerr has raised $250,000 since 2004.
Following a birdie at the par-5 15th hole to get to even for the day during the final round, Kerr owned a six-shot lead over McGill. Even when it seemed she might lose a stroke after catching the lip of a fairway bunker at the par-4 16th on her approach shot, Kerr got up and down from 90 yards with a sand wedge, culminating the save by draining a 12-foot par putt as she coasted to the title on the banks of the James River.
