Crash (Movie) also shows up in the Retriever categories:
Crash (Stephenson, Neal) , and more.
Near the end, "Crash" feels a bit forced, a bit preachy. But it's never glib or self-important. And there's a wonderful moment of capricious grace that ends the movie on a note of optimism.
Alissa Quart's term for movies like Crash (and Syriana, Traffic, Magnolia, etc.)--"hyperlink movies"--has been gaining popularity recently due to its use by people like Roger Ebert and Jason Kottke. Ebert says, "The term describes movies in which the characters inhabit separate stories, but we gradually discover how those in one story are connected to those in another."

Kingdom of revisionism. Click image to expand. Some people will see Crash and Kingdom of Heaven and like the politics and, therefore, like the movies, too. But the real politics here are the politics of audience manipulation, which is demagoguery, which is deeply boring, on both sides of the aisle.

[W]hat kind of a movie is Crash? A frustrating movie: full of heart and devoid of life; crudely manipulative when it tries hardest to be subtle; and profoundly complacent in spite of its intention to unsettle and disturb.
