Thanks to Yoko Kanno, one of the strongest traits of Cowboy Bebop is the music. Many of the songs have a jazz feel to them, but there's a mix of blues, rock, funk, and folk mingled in as well. Each song enhances the mood of the particular scene and it ... directs the pace of the action.

Cowboy Bebop is the story of the Cowboy starship Bebop as it be-bops its way through the solar system, hunting heads and making do in the wild reaches of space where anything can happen. Inspired by the free-wheeling style of Minston's Play House, a 1940's Harlem nightclub where Jazz players dueled each other with no regard for the rules of the times, Cowboy Bebop literally swings its way from mood to mood and adventure to adventure. It is a wild ride where jokes fly as well as lead, pretty faces can be hidden behind an ugly mug, and help and harm can come where you least expect it.

Virtual reality gaming is standard, and analog hardware such as videocassettes (VHS or beta) can only be found as antiques. Finally, World Wide Web has evolved into a massive Solar System Web (SSW). Cowboy Bebop takes place in the year 2071. The members of the space ship Bebop travel in outer space trying to catch criminals. Bounty hunters are known as "Cowboys". If they catch the criminals alive then they get reward. If the criminals died then cowboys gets nothing. The criminals are called bounties.
