Counterstrike
built 664 days ago
Counterstrike is a team-based multi-player game where online players are grouped into competing teams where each team is assigned a specific goal. The environment of the game is pre-loaded and clients exchange game state over the network using small UDP packets. Bursty losses can have an adverse effect on the progress of this game. First, during the initiation phase, the client generates important control packets which if lost can render the client unable to connect to the server. Second, a burst of packet losses during the middle of a game can either cause skips or cause a player to get disconnected. A skip can arise because the game state messages received immediately after a congestion provides a context jump in the game.

They've released just under 30 12"s on various high profile labels and re-launched their own imprint, Algorythm Recordings, internationally in 2005. Apart from their busy production and DJ schedule they ... find time to run the biggest monthly drum 'n bass night in South Africa called Homegrown.

Counterstrike was formed in 2005 as a natural progression of the band formerly known as Absolute Zero. Musically the band borrows from many different genres but delivers, both live and in the studio, a massive mix of heavy tones, raw energy, blistering vocals, and scorching drums. Based in East Peoria, IL, the band spent much of late 2005 writing new songs and building what was to become the basis for their upcoming first album. In early 2006 the band began to play live again for the first time as a complete unit. Counterstrike’s aggressive grooves have found a place in the music scene around Peoria and have slowly started creeping out of the Central Illinois area, getting numerous hits on the web as well as radio play as far away as Northern Wisconsin. The band has advanced and evolved quickly using traditional methods such as promoting shows with flyers, getting played on radio, handing out free demos and DVDs at shows, and by using new tools to musicians such as myspace.

Counterstrike allows for many different types of gameplay within the same general rules of the game. For example: normal counterstrike is round-based (you spawn at the beginning of the round with everyone else, one spawn per round), but if you’re feeling like a more fast-paced game than that you can ... play deathmatch, in which you will spawn immediately after you die. The ability to mod the game adds an interesting facet to the game that will allow more people to enjoy it more of the time.
