Corsica: Mediterranean Sea
built 646 days ago
The French island of Corsica is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean, although it has a culture entirely of its own, basking in the Italian sun. The islands beauty lies in its wild, untamed landscape and its unique, proudly maintained culture, although the influx of delicious French wines has not harmed!
The weather in Corsica is that of a Mediterranean climate. There is no ideal time to visit Corsica, but it is most enjoyable in May, June, September and October when the days are balmy and glorious, and the evenings cool.
From this time until 1729 Corsica remained at peace under the government of Genoa. It was... a peace due to lassitude and despair rather than contentment. The settlement of 1568 had reserved a large measure of autonomy to the Corsicans; during the years that followed this was withdrawn piecemeal, until, disarmed and powerless, they were excluded from every office in the administration. Nor did the Genoese substitute any efficient system for that which they had destroyed. In the absence of an effective judiciary the vendetta increased; in the absence of effective protection the sea-board was exposed to the ravages of the Barbary pirates, so that the coast villages and towns were abandoned and the inhabitants withdrew into the interior, leaving the most fertile part of the country to fall into the condition of a malarious waste. To add to all this, in 1576 the population had been decimated by a pestilence.
Sharing its structure with the Beretta coupe, the compact Corsica sedan and hatchback attracted a more sedate audience. A 4-door hatchback joined the 4-door sedan for 1989. So did a sporty LTZ, packing features like the Beretta GT. By 1990, the original engines were gone, replaced by a larger 2.2-liter four and 3.1-liter V6. Base cars now were outfitted like the prior year's midlevel LT grade. The sporty LTZ got reclining front bucket seats with adjustable lumbar supports.
The natue reserve, which is part of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, occupies the Scandola peninsula, an impressive, porphyritic rock mass. The vegetation is an outstanding example of scrubland. Seagulls, cormorants and sea eagles can be found there. The clear waters, with their islets and inaccessible caves, host a rich marine life.

Corsica’s glorious Mediterranean climate means that summers are long, so you do not need to wait long to rid yourself of the winter blues, as taking a luxury villa in Corsica can have you basking in the sun by May. From June until September, daily temperatures average around 27?C, and even in winter, temperatures do not plummet past 10?C on a regular basis.
