In 2004 Jackson Securities created a corporate finance partnership with experienced Wall Street and venture capital professionals. This partnership raised seed money, assembled a diverse board of directors representative of the important business sectors of the community, and provided advisory services for what was ultimately a $60M capital raise for an Atlanta-based bank. Subsequently, the firm created a unique debt instrument to provide launch capital for a series of cable television channels for a southeastern media outlet. COLUMBUS, Ga., April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aflac Incorporated today announced that Martin A. Durant III will rejoin Aflac as senior vice president, corporate finance, on July 1, 2006. In his new position, he will be heavily involved with Aflac's capital management activities and strategic financial initiatives. Mr. Durant graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Immediately after college, he had experience with a venture capital firm and as an accountant with KPMG/Peat Marwick. He originally joined Aflac in 1990 as vice president and comptroller of Aflac Incorporated and remained with Aflac for 10 years, during that time being promoted to senior vice president, corporate services. In 1999, he accepted a position as senior vice president and CFO of Carmike Cinemas, Inc., from which he retired on April 1, 2006.
