The Natural Cork floating floor system is comprised of one by three planks made in three layers. The top surface layer is 100% high density cork coated with 5 coats of UV cured acrylic finish (3 coats on the EcoCork). The middle layer with precut tongue and groove is a moisture resistant high density fiberboard. The base layer of low density cork underlayment provides excellent acoustic insulation. Plank size is 36” x12” x 7/6”. With two price ranges of products, you can’t resist this elegant flooring.

Solid cork underlayment is just what its name implies for laminate flooring; underlayment made from cork. In most opinions, cork underlayment is one of the better choices to have. Cork is porous, therefore, it breathes. There is more possibility for it to absorb sound. As such, it resists trapping moisture, like rubber or other non-porous underlayments can. It is ... a “green,” or environmentally friendly product, meaning it is a natural and renewable resource. With cork underlayment under the laminate flooring, the home will get optimum sound reduction.

Because cork is a wood product, it is subject to the normal behavior of expansion and contraction, but these changes are less noticeable than those that occur with wood flooring. Through temperature and humidity control, proper acclimatization, and following the guidelines for recommended expansion space expansion and contraction can be kept to minimal levels.
