Control Unit: System
built 655 days ago
The purpose of the control unit project is to be able to add to a system a VHDL module that maintains the control signals necessary for data path steering, register control, and operation control. These signals include multiplexer select signals, register load signals, operator control signals, enable signals, and whatever other signals may be needed to ensure proper operation of a system.

The Ford-developed RSC system uses TRW's advanced high flow technology within the electro-hydraulic control unit (EHCU)... helping to eliminate the need for a costly vehicle brake fluid pre-charge device. A similar system integration by Ford and TRW is also featured on the Ford Econoline van.

The SCB system replaces traditional boosters, master cylinders and vacuum pumps with an electro-hydraulic control unit (EHCU) and brake pedal simulator unit with a twin master cylinder to supply brake pressure. This offers several advantages: (1) ease of installation with fewer components to fit; (2) improved packaging in the front dash area versus traditional vacuum boosters; (3) a decoupled brake pedal that is ideal for integration into autonomous or emergency braking systems; and (4) best-in-class NVH characteristics.
