Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL) opened at 35.29. So far today, the stock has hit a low of 35.20 and a high of 36.34. CAL is now trading at 36.27, up 2.40 (7.09%). The stock hit its 52 week high of 52.40 in January and set its 52 week low of 22.23 in August. CAL steadily rose in the last months of 2006 but has been falling for most of this year. Continental Airlines shares have been soaring in today's action after a Soleil Securities analyst upgraded the stock to buy.
Continental Micronesia Boeing 737-800 at Fukuoka Airport The Wall Street Journal revealed on December 12, 2006 that Continental was in merger discussions with United Airlines. Of issue would be Continental's golden share held by Northwest Airlines, dating from a stakeholding relationship during the late 1990s, and the divestiture of Continental's Guamanian hub. A deal was not "certain or imminent," with the talks being in a preliminary state.[9][10]
Continental has the best profit-sharing plan in the industry. The plan shares 30 percent of the first $250 million of pre-tax income, 25 percent of the next $250 million and 20 percent of amounts over $500 million.
