HOUSTON, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today reported third quarter 2007 net income of $241 million ($2.15 diluted earnings per share). Excluding a special charge of $12 million for pilot pension plan settlement charges, Continental recorded net income of $253 million ($2.25 diluted earnings per share), an improvement of 73 percent compared to the same period last year.
HOUSTON (AP)--Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL) said Thursday that its fourth-quarter loss widened to $32 million partly due to a noncash charge, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The airline said high fuel prices and labor costs could affect its results this year.

HOUSTON, July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today reported second quarter 2007 net income of $228 million ($2.03 diluted earnings per share). Excluding a special charge of $7 million for pilot pension plan settlement charges, Continental recorded net income of $235 million ($2.10 diluted earnings per share), an improvement of 13 percent compared to the same period last year.
As announced yesterday, Continental will record a special non-cash tax charge in the fourth quarter, but has not finalized the amount given the technical nature of the issue. As a result, today the company is presenting its pre-tax results. By mid-February, Continental will finalize the special non-cash tax charge, and will report its net results in the company's Form 10-K.
