Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports, has been an influential and defining force in American society since 1936. The organization’s mission has remained essentially unchanged: to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers. The Consumers Union National Testing and Research Center in Yonkers, New York, is the largest nonprofit educational and consumer product testing center in the world. In addition to its testing facility in Yonkers and a state-of-the-art auto test center in Connecticut, the organization maintains advocacy offices in San Francisco, Austin, and Washington, D.C., where staff members work on national campaigns to inform and protect consumers. However, Amazon consumers who purchase from third-party merchants that sell on the site may have their own return policies, which may differ from Amazon's. For example, warehouse club Costco was among the leaders for price, and often doubles the manufacturer's warranty. However, its online and walk- in stores were deemed to be less than inspiring when it came to product selection. Local independent stores had higher satisfaction scores than chains and other walk-in stores with their combination of decent prices and outstanding service.

[C]hemists in Consumer Reports' lab ran the samples - that were anywhere from 10 to 12 ounces - through a machine to measure the amount of caffeine. Of the 36 cups of decaf, more than half had less than 5 milligrams. But there were exceptions. One of the six cups from Starbucks had 21 milligrams of caffeine. Testers found 29 milligrams in one of the cups from Seattle's Best. And one of Dunkin' Donuts' small decafs had 32 milligrams of caffeine.
