A year ago some washers' cleaning ability had slipped as manufacturers struggled to comply with new energy standards. But with the latest washers, there's a lot to like.

Last year, Consumer Reports published a VERY negative article on the Sharper Image Quadra Ionic Breeze. The gist of the article was that the Quadra didn’t perform as advertised and was a waste of money.

Consumer Reports' testing procedures are the most comprehensive of any U.S. publication or Web site. More than 50 individual tests are performed on every vehicle, including evaluations of performance, comfort, convenience, safety, and fuel economy. Many tests were developed exclusively by CR's auto engineers and adopted by the auto industry. Around 6,000 miles of general driving and evaluations are racked up during the testing process.
