Conjunctivitis: Schools
built 630 days ago
Conjunctivitis can be very contagious. People who have it should not share towels or pillowcases and should wash their hands frequently. They may need to stay home from school or work and should stay out of swimming pools.

Careful hand washing is most important to stop the spread of conjunctivitis, but even with this some viral conjunctivitis will spread quickly in places such as child care centres. Children and adults with conjunctivitis should stay away from school, child care or work until it is better.

Some conjunctivitis will clear up on its own. Eye drops or ointment are often prescribed. These differ depending on the type of suspected conjunctivitis, but they may relieve symptoms, speed healing, or allow a quicker return to school or day care.
