Contact lenses should not be worn for at least 1 week if you have acute conjunctivitis. Then the lenses and case should be disinfected twice before you use them again. If disposable lenses are used, discard the ones worn when infection was diagnosed and use a new pair.

The Warburg Pincus infusion gave Inspire the cash it needed to ramp up its sales staff ahead of the Aug. 13 launch of AzaSite, a drug to treat bacterial conjunctivitis. Inspire now employs about 175 people full-time in the Triangle.

The vast majority of cases of bacterial conjunctivitis will clear up of their own accord within five days. The highest standards of hygiene should be applied in an effort to clear the infection and the eyes should be washed a number of times a day with cotton wool which has been soaked in cooled, boiled water.
