Platform Flash has value added features that minimize the complexity of design FPGA configuration. For example, Danaher Motion uses the XCF02S two megabit Platform Flash PROM to enable field upgrading of the Xilinx Spartan-3 XC3S400 control logic for their high performance servo motor drives. "The Platform Flash PROM chip with integrated ISP capability allowed adding this feature with just a few gates through an existing serial port," according to David Colson, Senior Design at Danaher Motion.

The contract is for test equipment upgrades and engineering as the first step in the upgrade of three Patriot battalions (12 fire units) from PAC-2 to the PAC-3 configuration. The intent of the so-called "Pure Fleet" effort is to upgrade Patriot fire units for the Army's worldwide requirements providing all fielded units with configuration-3 capability following the Army's decision in February 2006 to upgrade additional tactical Patriot fire units.
