Concert S: Music
built 622 days ago
Things are in place for tomorrow’s concert, after a lengthy dress rehearsal tonight. The concert involves HBU’s Schola Cantorum, the HBU Singers, the Camerata (drawn from the Singers), and ... John Yarrington’s Chancel Choir from First Presbyterian of Houston. The concert involves various church and concert works- a couple of highlights are the Three Nocturnes (great percussion players, and Schola is singing VERY well) and You Are The Music (which really seems to move listeners). The concert’s finale is probably the most memorable, though: 160+ voices singing Arise Shine, premiering the organ/brass/percussion version. Wow.

This concert celebrates the music of Mozart, from his first minuet at age 4 to his final opera, The Magic Flute. Hear guest performers as young as Mozart was when he entertained the kings and queens of Europe. Mozart favorites on this concert include Symphony No. 40 and the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro.
The Cornell Chimes Logo All concerts are open to the public—you simply have to climb the tower's 161 steps. The door to the tower opens five to ten minutes before a scheduled concert and closes before concert's end. Your stair-climbing efforts will be rewarded with a spectacular view of Cornell and the surrounding community, and a musical performance like you've never seen before.
