Viruses are mostly written for PC-computers and DOS environment. Even though viruses are made for DOS environment, they are working ... in Windows, Windows95, Windows NT and OS/2 operating systems. Some viruses like boot sector viruses, do not care what about operating systems.[1]

Computer viruses and email worms are almost entirely a microsoft windows and Macintosh phenonmenon. There are some viruses which work on unix systems but they can not spread unless you do something stupid because the operating systems security features prevent the spread of viruses.
