Colorado Springs is the second-largest city in Colorado, after Denver. It is the seat of El Paso County, making up about three-quarters of the county's population. It is located on the edge of the Rocky Mountains, with Pikes Peak (14,110 ft) towering beside it to the west. To the east begin the Great Plains.

Today, Colorado Springs has many features of a modern urban area, such as parks, bike trails, urban open-area spaces, business and commerce, theatres and other entertainment. It was first established as a posh resort community, though the older mining supply center of Colorado City (now Old Colorado City) was merged later, and the tourist industry has remained strong and offers many activities and attractions. If you want to go water skiing then head South on the 25 Freeway to Pueblo Reservoir. Don’t forget to visit the River Walk while you’re in Pueblo.

Pikes Peak Colorado Springs Colorado Springs, Colorado, located in El Paso County, is just east of Pikes Peak and is home to approximately 350,000 people. The official elevation of Colorado Springs is 6,035 feet but many sites in the city are over 6,100. Because of the ease of access to the Rocky Mountains outdoor activities are virtually unlimited. In the winter Colorado Springs residents can be skiing, snowmobiling, sledding or ice fishing within a two hour drive. Golf, fishing, rafting, horseback riding, touring, hiking, mountain biking, camping are just a few of the outdoor activities that are available to everyone during the summer.
Colorado Springs is full of Mountain Biking, hiking and off-road motor vehicle trails. You won’t believe your eyes when you climb the side of a Mountain in a few minutes and take in the city views. Seen from anywhere in Colorado Springs, Pike's Peak sits 14,110 feet above sea level. Pike's Peak is traveled year round. You can hike, jog or take your own car ride up. Many enjoy a trip to the top on the Historic Cog Railroad.
