All grants require a well-documented description of the need for the proposed project. Statistics, surveys, case studies are some of the methods available to show a compelling need for the project. With the assistance of the originator of the proposal idea, Institutional Research and the Grants Office personnel, research data is gathered to support the proposed project. Once the needs based research has yielded satisfactory data to justify the need for the proposal, the grants personnel using web pages, commercial databases of funding opportunities and print materials will identify potential funding sources for the proposal.
