There is a total of $790 million in grants available for Pell Grant-eligible students for school year 2006-2007! These grants are available through the Academic Competitiveness Grants and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grants, as announced by the US Secretary of Education.

The federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is a federally and college funded program that is generally awarded only to those students eligible for a Pell Grant. Recipients, selected by Mount Ida, demonstrate significant financial need.

Montana Higher Education Grant (MHEG) — These grants are awarded as determined by colleges to students with exceptional financial need. The average award amount is $500. This program is funded by the state of Montana and is matched with federal funds.
Under certain circumstances, educational funding can come as grants. These don't usually have to be paid back dollar for dollar but they often come with the commitment to work in a specific occupation for a specific amount of time after graduation. This form of educational funding requires a student to "work off" the monetary assistance granted during school years.
