The Citigroup Foundation tutoring volunteer with children. DENVER, Colorado (PRNewswire) -- "The American Indian College Fund has received a $60,000 grant from The Citigroup Foundation, the charitable arm of Citigroup. The two-year grant helped 98 Native American students from 19 tribal colleges to obtain scholarships in teacher training.

Sloan Semester is now providing more than 1700 college students tuition- free online courses. In all, more than 4000 enrollments have been processed from a catalog of 1322 courses. Sloan Semester is offered by The Sloan Consortium, an international association of colleges and universities committed to quality online education, in collaboration with the Southern Regional Education Board. It is funded by a $1.1 million grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
The UPS Foundation awarded the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) $128,000 for scholarships benefiting American Indian students. UPS doubled its grant support from the previous year, and funds will be available for 2008-09 academic year scholarships. >>More

The COUNTRY college funding survey is based on a national telephone survey of at least 3,000 Americans who expect to be responsible for paying for a child’s education, and is compiled by Rasmussen Reports, LLC, an independent research firm. The margin of sampling error for a survey based on this many interviews is approximately +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

Each college entry is limited to 25 pages and must be sponsored by a supervising or advising faculty member. Winning entries may be invited to a student forum sponsored by NASA and/or industry, receive offers of student internships, and receive other prizes, including up to $5,000 cash, depending on available funds.
As college degrees become the rule rather than the exception, the burden on parents to fund a child's education continues to grow. Regardless of income levels, parents are facing a growing college tuition crunch that affects their financial future from savings to retirement.
