Prior to EMC, Clock held positions at Legato, which EMC acquired. He most recently was the vice president of Legato's professional consulting group. Clock was a key player in the acquisition of OTG Software that became the Messaging Business Group at Legato, a strategic product offering to compete in the information protection market. As vice president and general manager at Amdahl he was responsible for sales in 13 western states. Clock began his career at HP in the Global Solutions Group. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in commerce from Santa Clara University.

Wallingford's clock had a large astrolabe-type dial, showing the sun, the moon's age, phase, and node, a star map, and possibly the planets. In addition, it had a wheel of fortune and an indicator of the state of the tide at London Bridge. Bells rang every hour, the number of strokes indicating the time.
