Claudia Black has been an actress on great SF television series’ such as the highly acclaimed “Farscape” where she portrayed Aeryn Sun opposite Ben Browder and a ship full of assorted aliens. After “Farscape” ran its course she returned to the role of Sun in the tele-film “Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars.” She went on to star in the longest running SF television show in American TV history as Vala Mal Doran on “Stargate-SG-1,” again teaming up with her old cast mate Ben Browder. She joined SG-1 team regulars Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks for 29 episodes until the series finale earlier this year. Claudia is currently shooting two made-for-DVD Stargate films which will continue the series in that format.

Like so many other thespians, Claudia Black began her acting career in theatre, performing and honing her skills in such productions as Portrait Of Dorian Gray, Little Women and Merchant of Venice. She made the transition to television by starring and co-starring in several Australian productions. Her feature film debut came with the sci-fi thriller Pitch Black, but she is probably best known for her portrayal of the complex soldier Aeyrn Sun in the television series Farscape. The Sci Fi Channel announced today that Claudia Black (Vala Mal Doran) has been signed on as a regular cast member for Stargate SG-1's 2006-2007 season! Black joins other SG-1 cast members for season 10, which will begin airing next summer. In related news, the full casts of both SG-1 and Atlantis have ... had their contracts renewed for next season.
